Hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC)
Heated chemotherapy delivered directly into the abdomen during surgery, usually after cytoreductive surgery.
A treatment in which chemotherapy is heated and circulated through the abdominal cavity during an operation, usually right after cytoreductive surgery has removed the visible tumor. Delivering the drug directly to the lining of the abdomen lets it reach the surfaces where microscopic disease remains.
